Sweet, sweet 16
Normally, my blogs are all Liv and Old Man River and musings...but today is a special day. Today, the OG Kehoe grandson/nephew turns 16. Six. Teen.
On September 6, 2006, you came into the world in your own way, Jaker (backwards, truth be told, but it all worked out). From then on, you did things exactly as you saw fit. I have these memories of you, Jake-Break, little things like when you learned to say my name and it came out "Shitzy," (to which I am now and forever dubbed Aunt Shitz, so huge thanks for that), or when I was in charge and somehow you started repeating the the f word...and then it was all you would say. Homer and Toots come into the house? "Fuck." Dogs bark? "Fuck." Your mom and dad come home, "Fuck."
Looking back, we all laugh, but at the time...they did not find this skill amusing. Our bad.
There is more, so much more, but it all jumbles together into a few beautiful feelings more than memories: joy, laughter, amazement. Jacob Christopher, you are, and always will be, the nephew who taught me how to love unconditionally. I continue to be amazed by you, Jaker, and I hope this birthday is one for the books...just remember to let Lucas navigate so you don't get lost your first day out.
Love you always, nephew of mine. Happy 16th birthday.
